Despite the move to four months later in hopes of warmer weather, Mother Nature decided that it should still be cold with freezing rain and snow during our first April Alumni Weekend.
It started out like any other Friday night of Alumni Weekend at the Sawmill, where the alumni brothers were joined by many from the active chapter to talk and get acquainted with one another. Afterwards many headed to Star Shooters, as that is one of the few remaining bars around town still open and within walking distance of the house.
Saturday morning Brothers awoke to freezing rain and a light snow which continued throughout the day.
The meeting was held with 24 brothers in attendance, as well as brothers that were able to get onto the conference call over the phone, with just over $670 being raised. You can find the full meeting minutes here, along with previous years meeting minutes. Two E-board positions were up for election, and Shane Dunbar was elected secretary, along with Jacob VanBoxel being elected Vice President.
After the meeting brothers met up at Schuberg’s to enjoy some great food and company. Later on in the night, many of the Alumni Brothers attended the Chapter’s Founder’s Day formal, where they were welcome with open arms by the active chapter.
All in all, it was a great weekend given the surprise weather that hit Big Rapids, and we hope that we can improve upon it next year in both attendance and engagement.
